The National Film Board of Canada Launches Indigenous Cinema

Indigenous Cinema is a website launched by National Film Board of Canada that provides free streaming of more than 200 films by Indigenous filmmakers. NFB is committing to a three-year Indigenous Action Plan that will feature playlists and filmmaker biographies.

The website is part of the NFB’s three-year Indigenous Action Plan and will also feature playlists and filmmaker biographies. Films available for viewing include Alanis Obomsawin’s “We Can’t Make the Same Mistake Twice ” and Caroline Monnet’s “360 Degrees”.

Commitments in the NFB’s Indigenous Action Plan include a need to achieve workforce equity, cultural-competency training for all staff, and earmarking a minimum of 15 per cent of its overall production spending to Indigenous-directed projects.
