The Umbrella Academy

The Umbrella Academy season 1 finale ended with a cliffhanger as viewers were left wondering if Season 2 would show the younger version of the heroes or their older self or both in the next season. Fortunately, it looks like the wait for the show’s return might not be as long as we anticipated.

According to a recent listing from Production Weekly, The Umbrella Academy Season 2 will reportedly begin principal photography this May in Toronto. It also states that shooting is expected to wrap in September. but that doesn’t guarantee an early premiere of season 2.

In an earlier interview with IndieWire, Showrunner Steve Blackman said, “It takes us 18 months to do a season.” So it seems like Season 2 would premiere sometime at the end of this year.

It must be noted that Netflix is still yet to officially announce the renewal of this series. GWW reported back in February on the series’ return but an earlier listing from Production Weekly (December issue) also seem to have had the scoop on the show’s renewal and its location.

Screen Rant had also earlier reported that Netflix was scouting locations in rural Southern Ontario. The network was looking at Residential properties, farms and farm houses as a re-occurring location for Season 2.

Season 1’s narrative and storytelling succeeded at winning over an audience that is invested with these characters. But it still left a lot of pages unturned from their past.

It also seems like The Umbrella Academy Season 2 would give more screentime to Sir. Reginald to explores his past and share more information from his journey in becoming into an eccentric billionaire. As the show is still expected to center over time travel, any deaths that occurred in season 1 could be irrelevant in the next season.

The Umbrella Academy Season 2 does not have a released date assigned yet.
